We couldn't test out multiplayer but it appears to be all about stage battles and holding down fan geyser resource points to spawn more units. You can win these stage fights with having a few of each class in your army - a reasonable selection of ranged and close combat units will see you through, unless you have a turret tower to destroy which requires stealth roadie units. It does get easier to manage your army when you start getting rally flags and when you grow wings allowing for quick movements around the battlefield. I can see what they're trying to create here - a badass rock and roll hero with his army of minions.they just need some better AI, so they could look after themselves more. I admit the controls are messy, especially in stage battles. Blocking is pretty hard to time right, and generally the controls leave you fumbling about a bit. It really got me down because the game rewards you for minion management and AOE (Area of effect) spam instead of going solo which is what I really wanted to do. Missions try to keep you interested by changing certain conditions for success, or by throwing you new gear to play with.īut I have this giant axe and an awesome guitar which is a fun range weapon, and I end up spending all my time just trying to get my minions to do what I wanted. Escort missions are okay.but the stage battles attempt real time strategy, where capturing fan geysers allows you to spawn more minions and slowly push forward to eventually take down the opposing stage. I didn't mind it so much Baj, and there's some exciting escape races in there. The bulk of gameplay revolves around escort missions, and stage battles. It's a pretty impressive cast and soundtrack Jung - Jack Black is fantastic here - and when Ozzie Osborne appeared as my gear vendor I was pretty impressed.but the novelty of the world wore off for me - after hour 5 I just couldn't find anything to keep me in this game and it just stayed fairly repetitive from there.I think it's because even though you can see all the care that's gone into the story and art design, the core gameplay is generally more about minion management, than kicking ass with a big axe which is what I really wanted to do. You don't need to be a metal fan to enjoy this game, but it helps. There's lots of skulls, candles, hogs, and giant metal spiders and of course, rock music. You can tell much time has been spent on creating this universe and developer Tim Schafer has always been a fan of heavy metal and much of what you seen in this game has inspired by album covers and classic rock music videos. Yeah it's 'eye comedy' at it's best. This game has a lot of style - everything in this world has something to do with rock, from your adversaries to your checkpoint markers.

Comedy is hard to get right at the best of times and this game is full of amusing moments- it's all in the eyes of the characters hey Jung? The first thing you notice in this game the clever writing and cutscene direction is. This isn't really conveyed properly in the story, there are gaps missing here and there but you do get the gist that he's a chosen one, and his roadie knowledge is what always saves the day. Eddie becomes a saviour and a mentor of sorts, although his friends don't always trust him. You'll fight a number of emo loving villains, and upon meeting a band of fellow rock lovers, set about to rid the land of daemons and those who succumb to the 'sea of black tears'. An accident at a gig sends Eddie into another world arming him with an mean AXE, and a powerful guitar.
